Ukraine has excellent conditions for producing and growing fruit and berry crops. Specialists devote a lot of time and attention to this. A good alternative to using a large area of gardens today is the cultivation of columnar trees. These varieties have one straight trunk with a large number of short branches. Fruits are formed and developed here. The crown is narrow, so the plants do not take up much space. Many varieties of trees can be grown even on a small plot. In addition, there are other advantages, namely, ease of care, an uncomplicated procedure for creating a crown, and a high yield.
If you decide to grow columnar trees, you need to remember some subtleties. Plants like bright areas without strong and cold wind. The soil should be loose. To plant a tree, first dig a hole up to 40 liters in volume. Fill it with a little humus, place the seedling, burying the root. Place a support near the tree and tie it up. It remains only to sprinkle and water the plant. It is also necessary to make mulching to stop the evaporation of moisture.
We have already talked about the fact that it is not difficult to take care of such a garden. Plants should be watered only when necessary. Feeding up to 3-4 times per hour will not be superfluous. Ammonium nitrate, nitroammophoska, humus are suitable for fertilized roles. Do not forget about traditional procedures: weeding, loosening the ground around. The roots must receive the necessary amount of oxygen.
Among many varieties of crops, they are in great demand columnar apple trees. These trees grow without branches on the sides. The height can reach several meters. Fruits, one might say, cling to the trunk. To the taste, the fruits are appetizing and juicy, large in size.
Columnar apple trees love to be cared for. Perform the following care procedures in a timely manner.
- Ripe types of apple trees should be watered 1-2 times a week, and young seedlings - more often. To avoid drying out of the soil, it is necessary to mulch the area around the trunk with straw.
- Since the trees bear fruit well, they need a sufficient amount of nutrition. In the spring - organic matter (manure, manure slurry), in the middle of summer - another foliar top dressing, and during strong growth it is worth using mineral fertilizers.
- At the beginning of June or after the leaves have fallen, cut off the side branches.
You don't want to prepare the tree for the cold weather? Then buy winter-hardy varieties. However, any young seedlings must be protected by covering them with spruce or sawdust.
