Russian citizens have the right to stay on Svalbard without a visa, but since entry to the island is carried out through Norway, a Norwegian or Schengen visa is required.

Employment on the archipelago

"Arktikugol" concludes a contract with new employees first for 6 months, then for 3 years. Employees are offered a stable salary and bonuses from 20 to 100% of the salary, depending on the length of service. Free medical care, an additional 24-day vacation and other benefits are provided.
