Marking of goods: features and equipment

68

The term labeling refers to the procedure of applying special stickers to goods containing additional information about the product and the manufacturer. As a rule, they are pasted at the factory, but in some cases, product items are marked in warehouses or even in the store itself immediately before selling to customers. Deputies are constantly expanding the list of products that must contain additional stickers, so in the near future it is possible to expect that almost all products will undergo this procedure.

Marking itself is necessary in order to fight counterfeiting, to identify counterfeit products, and to allow consumers to purchase only quality products. The code on the sticker allows you to trace the product from the place where it was produced to the point of sale. As a rule, it contains information about the country of origin, manufacturer, model, etc. Marking products can also be used to notify buyers about the features of the goods. For example, what exactly they contain, mentions of promotions and sales, rules of use, etc.

Another advantage of applying barcodes is that products can be quickly identified during sales, during loading and unloading operations, storage, etc. This allows you to use automated accounting systems and ensure total control of movement within the company (from the warehouse to the sale to the final customer). A special tool is used to apply stickers marking equipment. As a rule, they are printed on special printers, and then glued to the finished goods on the conveyor. There are also manual devices that are usually used in warehouses.

Types of marking

Stickers that are glued to products can contain not only a barcode for identification. There are also products of the second type. Let's consider them more carefully:

  1. Information stickers. They contain data that are required by the law "On the Protection of Consumer Rights". As a rule, this is the name and address of the manufacturer, technical regulations, data on consumer properties, food value, storage rules and expiration date.
  2. Identification stickers. They contain information that the product complies with current GOSTs, technical conditions, safety and quality requirements.
  3. Motivational stickers. They are necessary so that a person wants to buy a certain product. For example, these may be sales notifications, promotions, or other motivational offers.

Separately, we note that at the moment there are 50 different standards for the production of barcodes worldwide. But most often in Ukraine, EAN-13, Code 39 of different density, Interleaved 2-of-5, Code 128 and UPC are used. They allow you to work with electronic scanners of all types and determine exactly what product is in front of you.
