This type of furniture entered everyday life during the Soviet period. This is quite justified, because the modest layouts of the apartments did not allow the owners to fantasize about the arrangement. But to show ingenuity - on the contrary, it was necessary, due to the fact that families of 3-4 people often lived in small one-room "brezhnevka" with an area of only 22-30 m. But even when the area allowed to allocate a separate space for the children's room on the total square meters, it still had to be organized, and in the case when there were several children, this issue became even more urgent. That's when such an uncomplicated and practical thing as a bunk bed came to the rescue, which could be bought in thrift stores, which were popular with people at that time.

The material of execution is also diverse, as well as the model range. Beds are made of metal and wood, among which oak, alder or beech are the most valuable. Combined models have gained wide popularity. They help to combine the strength of metal and warm, environmentally friendly wood in the product, which opens up a huge space for design solutions. Metal beds cost the buyer much cheaper, but this is exclusively a matter of taste and preference, since modern production is ready to offer a wide range of models for every taste and budget without losing quality and beauty, using elements of artistic painting, textiles, various colors and textures in the design.

The arrangement of sleeping places in the beds may change depending on the configuration of the furniture. Here it is important to highlight the main varieties - a straight bed and a corner bed. A straight bed, like a traditional double bed, can have a fixed or retractable lower bed. Some manufacturers even offer options with a third pull-out compartment. For access to the upper tier, the bed is equipped with ladders or steps. The latter is very convenient, since the wide slats can be used during the day as shelves, in addition, they are often equipped with drawers for storage. The upper bunks are equipped with sides for safe use.
Another model of a double bed - with a retractable sleeping place differs from the classic version in height. In the middle of the day, it is an ordinary single bed, although slightly increased in height, but not so much that it can be equipped with a mini-stepladder. It does not take up much space and is very convenient to use even for a teenager. If necessary, the second sleeping place can be extended like a pull-out sofa, and then both of them are located next to each other, but at a short distance in height.
The height of ordinary beds can be different. The classic option is 1,65-1,75, but it all depends on the ceilings of the room in which it is planned to be placed. Today, the wide selection offered includes a service for the fulfillment of individual orders for production, within the framework of which it is possible to adapt the future product to the dimensions of the room. This is relevant, for example, when the nursery is planned to be placed on the attic floor of a private house. This also applies to the size parameters of the product, although the assortment includes standard types of beds in the age range from 3 to 14 years.
