Nuances of replacing technical fluids in cars

41

Everyone is used to the fact that brake fluid and engine oil are of great importance in the design of a car. The safety of the machine and its reliability when operating in difficult conditions depend on their technical qualities. Undoubtedly, these fluids are important for the operation of the car, but this does not mean that it is not necessary to monitor others. For example, antifreeze, the quality of which depends on the efficiency of cooling the power unit. In the summer, without an air conditioner, it will not be comfortable in the car cabin, and if the freon level in it is low, it will not work well. Let's consider when it is necessary to change these fluids.

Air conditioner refill

The car's air conditioning system, like its usual household counterpart, is a closed system. Refrigerant circulates inside, which is considered a technical liquid. Despite the tightness of the system, it evaporates over time, and when its level drops, the pressure also decreases. If this parameter deteriorates, the efficiency of air cooling is noticeably reduced. On average, air conditioners should be refueled once every 3-5 years. This is done in the conditions of a car service, where there is a special gas station. According to technology, it is not possible to add new refrigerant to the old one. It is necessary to liquidate its remains, and then flush the system. Only then can you fill in a new technical fluid. Refrigerant losses can also occur due to a violation of the tightness of the system. In this case, it is necessary to contact car service for air conditioner repair with subsequent refueling.

Replacing the coolant

Antifreeze contains special additives that prevent oxidation and freezing of the liquid. They are valid for five years, and then the antifreeze must be changed. Otherwise, substances that have lost their properties will settle on the inner walls of the radiator in the form of scale. It reduces the throughput of the circulation tubes, and if the antifreeze is not changed in a timely manner and the system is not flushed, the radiator will soon need to be replaced. As in the case of the air conditioner, the old antifreeze must be drained, as the oxidation products contained in it will reduce the properties of the new coolant. This increases the probability of the occurrence of oxidative processes inside the circulation tubes. As a result, a leak appears, and if the radiator is aluminum, it is not subject to restoration and is simply replaced with a new one.
