Oximeter: dissolved oxygen under special control

27

What is the purpose of controlling the density of dissolved oxygen?

The density of oxygen dissolved in a liquid is an important parameter in metallurgical, oil refining, chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries. This indicator cannot be dispensed with in medicine, agro-industrial complex, fisheries, scientific tasks, biology. All possible biotechnological processes are unthinkable without correct and continuous monitoring of the level of oxygen dissolved in the liquid.

The situation is complicated by the fact that the oxygen level, measured by an oximeter, is quite dynamic. Indications can change within a minute. For this, the measurements are carried out as quickly and accurately as possible, which can only be provided by a high-quality one measuring technique in SimVolt. Oxygen density is calculated by means of mineralization and water temperature, atmospheric pressure, turbulent processes, etc.
Each temperature indicator corresponds to the equilibrium oxygen content under conditions of normal blood pressure (atmospheric pressure), which is taken as 100%. Pressure data are reflected in special tables. If the concentration is higher than 100%, then the equilibrium content has been exceeded. Jumps in atmospheric pressure, a drop in salinity and water temperature provoke an increase in oxygen concentration.

Oxygen appears in the liquid medium as a result of:

  1. photosynthesis of aquatic flora;
  2. the development of adsorption from air;
  3. inflow of rain and melt water;
  4. natural and artificial ventilation;
  5. other processes.

An oximeter is a necessity on aqua farms working with sea and fresh water. Qualitative oximeters allow you to control the oxygen regime, on the basis of which the analysis of the state of reservoirs is built. The norm of oxygen concentration in fish farms for different types of fish is 4-6 mg/l. The content of 2 mg/l is critical, such a level is fatal for fish.

Negative consequences also arise as a result of an increase in oxygen concentration, which is fraught with fish intoxication. This will not happen with the oximeter that you can buy in our SIMVOLT control and measurement equipment market. Oxygen is a powerful oxidizer, so it is necessary in the self-cleaning procedure of reservoirs. A low level of this parameter indicates clogging of the water body with the remains of organic matter, its strong rotting.
Continuous monitoring of oxygen dissolved in water is a prerequisite for biological wastewater treatment systems, as each technological process takes place at a certain oxygen concentration. Control of the content of dissolved oxygen is required both in aqueous media and in other liquids and gases, in solving scientific and industrial problems.
