Variants of external wall insulation in a multi-story building

The popularity of external insulation of facades in multi-storey residential buildings from the company tepla-kvartyra.kiev.ua became a consequence of a significant increase in utility tariffs. Since many residential buildings were built about fifty years ago, it can be concluded that the thermal insulation layer no longer works so effectively and retains heat in the interior. External insulation is especially important for panel multi-story buildings, as there the heat loss through load-bearing walls is much higher than in brick structures.

Variants of materials for wall insulation in a multi-story building.

External walls in a multi-story building can be insulated with the following materials:

• Styrofoam;

• mineral wool;

• Styrofoam;

• foam glass.

Styrofoam is one of the most common materials due to its availability and cost. It is necessary to choose a material with good density indicators, because the higher it is, the less heat-conducting properties it will have.

I use mineral wool quite rarely, for insulation of the external walls of multi-storey buildings, since if you compare it with analogues, then this material has a higher cost. The advantages of mineral wool include the fact that the material does not support combustion processes, and it can also act as additional sound insulation. The only drawback is the large weight. This leads to the fact that the material needs to be more reliably attached to the load-bearing walls and thus consumes more fasteners.

Styrofoam has thermal insulation properties that are an order of magnitude higher when comparing this material with polystyrene. Styrofoam is very easy to install, as it is light in weight. Even the insulation of corner apartments can be done very quickly and easily with the help of this material. It does not absorb water at all, which may affect its service life. The disadvantage is the lack of sound insulation properties.

Styrofoam is one of the most expensive insulation materials and is therefore rarely used. If financial means allow, then the preference should be given to it, since foam glass has a long service life, and it also does not burn, mold does not form on it and inside it, and microorganisms do not multiply.

For a high-quality installation of heat-insulating material, you may also need: plaster for preparing and leveling load-bearing walls, primer, reinforcing construction mesh, paint and varnish facade materials, as well as fasteners for insulation. The main requirement for external insulation is that it must be painted in the color of the other facades of the multi-storey building.

Insulation from the outside is chosen due to the fact that the insulation, which is used to perform all work, must be at least 100 millimeters thick. If such materials will be used indoors, it will have a detrimental effect on the total usable area of living rooms. Even if you perform high-quality insulation from the inside of the apartment, the result may be lower than expected due to severe defects on the outer load-bearing walls, through which cold air flows will still penetrate inside the house. External insulation preserves the output of steam through the walls, which allows humidity indicators in the apartment to remain normal, thereby maintaining a good microclimate for people's activities.

In order to perform all the work, it is necessary to choose really high-quality materials that will have excellent quality characteristics and a long service life, and it is also best to entrust everything to qualified craftsmen, especially since high-quality work can only be performed by specialists.
