Reading is one of the most interesting leisure activities. Although such a pastime was very common long before our days, it does not lose its popularity even now. Digital technologies affect all spheres of human entertainment, and reading is no exception.

Modern readers are less and less likely to take hardcover books off the shelves and are increasingly using computers, tablets and e-books for these purposes. Electronic books and tablets have recently become the most popular: each device has its fans who argue about the advantages and disadvantages of this or that type of technology.

Comparison of tablet and e-book features

Indeed, each type of device has its pros and cons. E-books are equipped with a matte E-Ink display, which is designed for easy perception of the text with the eyes. Such a black-and-white display reflects light poorly and does not create blinding glare. These devices are much lighter and thinner than their paper counterparts. They can work for quite a long time - about two months of autonomous work without recharging. They are also quite inexpensive.

The disadvantages of e-books include the fact that they cannot be used for Internet surfing, or such possibilities are present, but to a very limited extent. The touch screen in these devices is rarely used, and the usual versions have built-in arrow keys for navigation.

If we talk about tablets as reading devices, then there are completely different advantages and disadvantages. First, you can easily access the Internet from the tablet and download the desired file directly to the device. The multi-colored screens in these devices are much brighter, larger and more colorful than in electronic books. But their glossiness often prevents the user from reading in lighted rooms: glare strains the eyes. In general, tablets are very versatile and allow you to play games, watch movies, and correspond by e-mail.

Disadvantages of this type of device also exist: they do not have a long battery life. As a rule, after several hours, the unit settles down. In most cases, tablets are heavier than their paperback counterparts and larger in size. But there are also medium-sized tablets, for example, Lenovo tablet, the diagonal of which is ideal for reading books and other activities.
